Voice and video calls

Placing a call

  • From a conversation, tap the phone icon (voice) or video-camera icon (video).
  • From a friend's profile, tap Call.
  • From your call history tab, tap a recent contact.

We support one-on-one calls and group calls of up to 32 participants (voice) or 8 participants (video).

Picture-in-picture

While a call is active, tap the minimise button or swipe up to send the call into a floating picture-in-picture window. You can use other apps and return to the call by tapping the window.

Picture-in-picture requires iOS 15 or Android 8+ with picture-in-picture permission granted.

Call quality

Seldeo calls run over Agora's real-time network. Typical quality:

  • Voice: 32 kbps codec, sub-200 ms latency on 4G+.
  • Video: up to 720p at 30 fps on Wi-Fi, adaptive down to 240p on slow connections.

If quality drops:

  • Move to a different network (Wi-Fi ↔ cellular).
  • Force-close and reopen the app to reset the Agora connection.
  • On iOS, check Settings → Cellular → Seldeo is enabled.

Recording calls

Seldeo does not record calls automatically. You can record a call by tapping the record button during the call — all participants are notified visually and audibly when recording starts. The recording is saved to your device and can optionally be uploaded to the conversation.

Recording someone without their consent may be illegal in your jurisdiction (many US states require all-party consent). Check your local law.

Missed calls and voicemail

Missed calls appear in the call tab and in your notifications. Seldeo does not currently support voicemail; missed callers can leave a voice note in the conversation instead.
