How to delete your Seldeo account

Updated 2026-07-15

Seldeo, Inc. lets you delete your account and your data at any time. This page is the public, no-sign-in-required URL required by Google Play's data-safety programme and by Apple App Store Review guideline 5.1.1(v). It is intentionally accessible without a Seldeo account so anyone — including a family member, a journalist verifying a claim, or a regulator — can read the process end-to-end without downloading the app.

Two ways to delete

1. In the Seldeo app (fastest)

  1. Open Seldeo.
  2. Tap your profile avatar → Settings → Account → Delete account.
  3. Confirm your password or two-factor code.
  4. Choose:
    • Delete now — the 30-day grace period is skipped and deletion runs immediately.
    • Schedule delete in 30 days (default) — you can undo by signing back in before the deadline.
  5. Read the summary of what will be deleted and tap Confirm.

You are signed out of every device the moment the request is accepted.

2. By email (if you no longer have access to the app)

If you have lost the phone, forgotten the password, or otherwise cannot sign in:

  • Email privacy@seldeo.com from the email address on your account.
  • Include your Seldeo username (or the phone number on the account) in the message.
  • We verify identity via the registered email/phone. If we cannot verify, we may ask for additional proof — for example, a photograph of a government-issued ID with the sensitive fields covered. We destroy that verification image within 30 days of closing the request.

We answer within the statutory windows: 30 days (GDPR / CCPA / LGPD via CNPD), 45 days (DPDP), or shorter where local law requires it.

What gets deleted

Within 30 days of the deletion event (immediately after Delete now, or 30 days after Schedule delete):

  • Your profile (username, display name, avatar, cover photo, bio, verification badge).
  • All posts, stories, reels, memorials, comments, and reactions.
  • Direct messages you have sent — from your account. Copies delivered to other people's inboxes remain in their inboxes until they delete or until the disappearing-message timer fires.
  • Voice and video call records associated with your account.
  • Device push-notification tokens and any imported (hashed) contact identifiers.
  • Location data attached to your posts.
  • Your Seldeo backups age out within a further 30 days.

What we keep, and why

  • Aggregated usage statistics that cannot be linked to you.
  • Content you posted to public audiences that others saved, re-shared, or screenshotted before your account was deleted. Your original copy is gone, but derivative copies outside Seldeo are outside our control.
  • Money-related records — 7 years, if you ever made a purchase (US tax law).
  • Security-incident logs — 2 years.
  • Trust & Safety records — up to 5 years for policy-enforcement history (DSA / OSA record-keeping).
  • Legal hold — where a court, law enforcement, or ongoing safety investigation has legally required us to preserve specific records.

The detailed table lives in our Privacy Policy §6 and in the Data Retention & Deletion Policy (§6 and cross-references).

Undo (30-day grace)

If you scheduled deletion (default) and change your mind, just sign back in with your credentials before the 30-day window closes. Your account is restored to the exact state at the moment you scheduled the deletion.

Once the 30-day window closes, the deletion is irreversible.

Deleting the account of a deceased person

Family members can request memorialization (the account becomes read-only with a memorial marker) or deletion by writing to privacy@seldeo.com with the subject line "Deceased user — Seldeo username <username>" and attaching a copy of the death certificate.

Deleting only some data (not the whole account)

You do not have to delete the whole account to delete a specific piece of content.

  • Posts, stories, reels, comments — long-press → Delete.
  • Direct messages — long-press → Delete for me or Delete for everyone.
  • Story slides — tap → menu → Delete.
  • Followers / following list — remove or block individuals from their profile screens.
  • Location data — Settings → Privacy → Location → Remove locations from past posts.
  • Full data export — Settings → Privacy → Download my data.

Regulatory rights

The right to delete personal data is protected in many jurisdictions:

  • GDPR Article 17 (EEA), UK GDPR Article 17 (UK), CCPA § 1798.105 (California), LGPD Article 18(VI) (Brazil), DPDP Act § 12 (India), PIPA Article 21 (South Korea), and analogous rights worldwide.

We honour these rights globally, not only for residents of those jurisdictions.
